Job Title: Greenhouse Worker

We are seeking a reliable and physically demanding Greenhouse Worker to join our team at Ed Sobkowich Greenhouses.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a fast-paced greenhouse environment, ensuring the health and well-being of plants, and contributing to the production of high-quality bedding plants and seasonal plants.

Key Responsibilities:

• Clean and maintain the greenhouse, including weeding, pruning, and fertilizing plants.
• Assist in transplanting seedlings or rooted cuttings, and potting and re-potting plants.
• Water and tend to plants, lawns, and/or gardens, ensuring optimal growth and health.
• Report signs of insect or disease damage, and take corrective action as necessary.
• Work in a team environment, collaborating with colleagues to achieve production goals.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in a greenhouse or horticultural setting an asset.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with repetitive tasks and heavy lifting.
• Strong attention to detail and hand-eye coordination.
• Reliability and teamwork skills essential.

Working Conditions:

• Work in a wet/damp and hot environment.
• Standing for extended periods and bending, crouching, and kneeling required.
• Weight handling up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
