We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Accounting & Finance department, you will be responsible for the Company's global direct and indirect tax compliance, providing strategic tax guidance for our business operations.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will manage our organization's tax global planning, compliance, and reporting activities, ensuring accurate and timely submissions. You will develop and implement a global tax strategy aligned with our business objectives, collaborating with senior leadership on tax-efficient business structuring.
Your responsibilities will include preparation and review of Canadian and International corporate tax returns and annual financial statement tax notes disclosure, in collaboration with external tax professionals. You will also supervise and review monthly, quarterly or annual tax remittances relating to GST, HST, PST, USA sales and use tax, VAT, EC Sales, Intrastat, etc.
Other key duties include assistance with international tax matters such as withholding taxes, information reporting returns/issues, and transfer pricing. You will also assist with global payroll taxes requirements, perform tax research on specific tax issues or transactions as required, and draft memos outlining analysis, conclusion, and recommendations.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will require a Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or Finance. A CPA, MBA or relevant certification is preferred. Completion of the CICA In-Depth tax course would be an asset.
You will need a minimum of 5+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a public mid-sized manufacturing/technology environment. Strong knowledge of Canadian Tax legislation and reporting is essential, along with experience with direct and indirect tax compliance, preferably in a similar international operations environment.
Avalara experience is an asset, as is exposure to USA tax legislation. You will also require excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
