Job Title: Driver/Heavy Equipment Operator

Job Summary:

SECURE is seeking a skilled Driver/Heavy Equipment Operator to join our Metals Recycling team in Fort McMurray, AB. This is a fly-in/out position on a 14/7 work schedule. The ideal candidate will have experience operating heavy equipment, such as excavators and material handlers, and a valid Class 1 or 3 driver's license with Q endorsement.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate heavy equipment and transport vehicles in diverse weather conditions and challenging work site environments.
  • Comply with all jurisdictional traffic safety legislation and regulations.
  • Inspect transport units and loads for safe operation and ensure proper load securement.
  • Complete and submit documentation, including logbooks, equipment inspection reports, and time tickets, in a timely manner.
  • Abide by all company and customer-specific safety procedures and protocols.
  • Communicate with customers regarding expected onsite arrival and service requirements.
  • Load and transport equipment and materials for Metals Recycling, ensuring compliance with TDG Regulations and weight and dimension regulations for each jurisdiction.

Requirements:

  • Valid and current Class 1 or 3 driver's license with Q endorsement.
  • Minimum 3 years driving experience in the transportation industry or demonstrated competency.
  • Solid knowledge base with respect to Hours of Service, load securement, and driving regulations.
  • Ability to accurately maintain Log Books, Trip Records, and Inspections on a daily basis.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with respect to the maintenance, servicing, and repair of transport vehicles.
  • Ability to safely operate transport vehicles through difficult weather conditions and challenging work site environments.
  • Prior experience operating heavy equipment (excavators, shears).
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, shoveling, moving containers, and other heavy materials.
