Animal Protection Specialist

The BC SPCA is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Animal Protection Officer to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in ensuring the welfare of animals and enforcing animal cruelty legislation.
Key Responsibilities- Investigate animal cruelty complaints and enforce relevant laws and regulations.
- Provide humane treatment and care to animals in need.
- Represent the BC SPCA in all matters related to animal welfare.
- Collaborate with other agencies and stakeholders to promote animal welfare and prevent cruelty.
- Prepare reports and provide evidence to support investigations and prosecutions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager of Cruelty Investigations.
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education preferred.
- Successful completion of Justice Institute of BC courses in investigation skills and animal cruelty investigations.
- Law enforcement experience is an asset.
- Genuine compassion for animals and knowledge of animal welfare standards.
- Proficiency in animal husbandry and handling.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid BC Class N or 5 driver's license and driver's abstract.
- Criminal Record Check.
