About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled Structural Steel Detailer to join our team at Recruit Island. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for creating accurate and comprehensive shop drawings for the fabrication and assembly of steel structures.
Your primary objective will be to convert engineering designs into detailed shop drawings, assembly drawings, and erection plans using design software. You will need to possess a keen eye for precision and a solid understanding of structural engineering principles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Software Expertise: Utilize design software to create detailed shop drawings, assembly drawings, and erection plans, ensuring accurate representations of steel components and connections.
- Material Quantity Determination: Perform precise material takeoffs to determine the quantity and type of steel required for fabrication, considering factors such as weight, dimensions, and specifications.
- Discrepancy Resolution: Coordinate with engineers and project managers to resolve any discrepancies, conflicts, or modifications to design requirements during the detailing process.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough reviews and checks on the completed drawings to maintain high-quality standards and accuracy.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with fabrication teams to communicate design specifications, provide clarifications, and address any on-site issues.
Requirements:
- Qualifications: A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is preferred; however, relevant certifications and significant practical experience in structural steel detailing will also be considered.
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in structural steel detailing.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in industry-standard CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, SDS/2, Revit, Advanced Steel) and the ability to use BIM tools effectively.
