Key Responsibilities:

The Total Wealth Planner is responsible for delivering comprehensive financial planning advice and support to high net worth clients, acting as the in-field subject matter expert and champion.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Deliver end-to-end goals-based financial plans by gathering key data, preparing and analyzing financial plans, presenting strategies, and identifying opportunities to deepen relationships.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and champion for financial planning, providing ongoing professional advice, fostering collaboration among advisors and relationship managers, and championing the value of financial planning.
  • Build professional relationships with external experts, internal advisors, and other experts to drive collaboration and provide optimal service.
  • Maintain financial planning professional practice standards, remain current on financial planning topics, and meet or exceed service level agreements.

Functional Competencies:

  • Comprehensive technical understanding of the financial planning process, including investments, asset protection, retirement, estate planning, cash management, and taxation issues.
  • Presentation skills, particularly related to financial matters, and the ability to present complex concepts in an easily understood manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships and trust.
  • Working knowledge of the Wealth Management business line, including the value proposition, products, and services provided to high net worth clients.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team to identify opportunities and provide the highest level of service to clients.

Educational Requirements:

University degree, accredited financial planning designation (CFP), and a minimum of 3 years of experience as a high net worth financial planner.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • TEP designation, Life Insurance license, Professional designation (CA, CMA, CGA, LLB), Canadian Securities Course, and additional estate and/or tax courses.
