Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Database Manager to oversee the Product Team and manage databases of product entries across various POS/ERP systems within our organization. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Procurement, the Database Manager will be responsible for ensuring efficient database and product management for multiple business units under one parent company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Database Management:
    • Oversee the maintenance and updating of product databases across multiple POS/ERP systems.
    • Lead the strategy for integrating multiple databases to ensure data consistency and efficiency.
    • Develop and implement database management policies and procedures.
    • Ensure data security, integrity, and availability across all databases.
    • Collaborate with SEO, Marketing, and Category Management teams to understand and address their data needs.
    • Monitor database performance and optimize for scalability and efficiency.
    • Troubleshoot database issues and coordinate with IT support for resolution.
    • Implement and manage database backups, recovery, and disaster planning.
    • Administer Product Information Management (PIM) systems to streamline product data management processes.
    • Optimize the use of PIM systems for better efficiency and accuracy in product listings.
  • Product Upload Management:
    • Supervise the upload of new products into the database, ensuring all relevant details are accurately captured.
    • Oversee the categorization and prioritization of products for various retail and wholesale channels.
    • Collaborate with Category Management, Design/Photography, Marketing, SEO and Logistics teams to align Product Management strategies.
    • Manage the enrichment of product information, including descriptions, tagging, titles, specifications, images, video, and other rich media.
    • Develop and execute processes for securing these product details from vendors or internal departments.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead and manage the Product Team responsible for product entry and database management.
    • Provide training, support, and guidance to team members.
    • Monitor team performance metrics and implement improvement strategies as needed.
    Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Data Sciences, Information Systems, or a related field preferred.
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in database administration and management, particularly in managing databases across multiple business units.
    • Proven experience with POS/ERP systems.
    • Experience in building and maintaining Product Information Management (PIM) systems is highly desirable.
    • Proficiency in SQL and database query optimization.
    • Familiarity with Sage and Microsoft Dynamics ERP systems is an asset.
    • Strong understanding of database architecture, design principles, and best practices.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and levels of the organization.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
