Job Summary:

H. Wilson Industries Ltd. is seeking an experienced Pipelayer to join our team. As a Pipelayer, you will be responsible for preparing and installing underground pipelines as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist other workers with general labor activities during trenching and laying of pipe.
  • Work independently completing straightforward tasks related to the process of laying pipe on line and grade.
  • Ensure pipe is properly bedded in granular or native material before backfilling occurs.
  • Ensure all work is conducted in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Be aware of changes to materials and techniques, adapting easily to those changes.
  • Work with a variety of hand/power tools used in underground utility, heavy construction equipment, and new and salvage materials.
  • Be aware of proper slinging of pipe, manhole barrels, etc., and ensure safe work procedures are followed during lowering of materials into the excavation.

Communication and Teamwork:

  • Communicate to the foreman materials needed to keep the process of laying pipe moving in an efficient manner.
  • Work as the foreman's eyes in excavation regarding safety of other workers.
  • Bring to the foreman's attention any irregularities in materials being used.

Work Environment and Conditions:

  • Attend daily FLHA (Field Level Hazard Assessments).
  • Actively participate in worksite inspections as delegated.
  • Actively and positively participate in safety initiatives.

Safety Culture:

  • Actively engage in H. Wilson Industries Ltd. safety culture.
  • Engage senior management on an ongoing basis regarding safety activities and successes.
  • Remain visibly committed to the safety excellence way of life by participating in all relevant safety training and attending weekly safety meetings.

Requirements:

  • Work well independently and in a team environment.
  • Willing to work long hours and weekends.
  • Knowledge of pipe laying techniques.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license (Driver's Abstract required).
