Job Summary
The Intermediate Industrial Designer is a key member of our design team, responsible for delivering high-quality product design solutions while providing guidance to junior designers. This role requires a strong understanding of design principles, product development processes, and effective communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide design guidance and support to junior designers to ensure product design intent, integrity, and quality of execution.
- Contribute to the definition and execution of product design solutions, ensuring compatibility with company portfolio and meeting product development objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and deliver product design solutions that meet customer needs and business objectives.
- Develop and maintain design documentation, including sketches, renderings, and CAD models, to communicate design intent and progress.
- Conduct design research and analysis to inform product design decisions and ensure alignment with company goals.
- Provide input on product development issues, including manufacturability, function, appearance, and product application.
- Work with outside design and engineering resources, such as contractors and researchers, to support product development.
- Interact with clients and participate in presentations and research activities to ensure design solutions meet customer needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Industrial Design degree.
- 5-10 years of work experience as a practicing Industrial Designer, with furniture/systems design experience a plus.
- Design-related research and analytical skills.
- Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities.
- Both technical proficiency and aesthetic aptitude.
- Proficiency in current software tools for CAD, visual communication, and communication.
- Soft model, mockup, and visual model making capabilities.
- Knowledge of current prototyping methods and technologies.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and provide guidance to junior designers.
- Ability to work effectively in all phases of product development, from concept definition through technical development, production details, and post-launch product support.
