About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Maintenance Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our facilities team, you will play a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our hospital environment.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Cleaning and sanitizing all areas of the hospital, including patient rooms, common areas, and equipment
  • Maintaining the hospital's floors, including sweeping, mopping, and waxing
  • Shampooing carpets and upholstered furniture
  • Removing waste and recyclables
  • Responding to chemical spills and other environmental hazards
  • Performing laundry tasks and room set-ups
  • Cleaning windows and applying salt during winter months
  • Isolating and cleaning areas affected by floods or blood spills

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Grade 12/GED or equivalent work experience
  • Effective communication skills
  • Preference will be given to applicants with cleaning and floor care experience
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
  • Permanent, part-time position; 22.5 hours bi-weekly
  • Shifts are 7:30 A.M. - 3:30 P.M. and 11:30 A.M. - 7:30 P.M.; includes weekends and holidays
Compensation and Benefits

$20.02 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
