EHN Canada is a leading provider of mental health, trauma, and addiction treatment services. We are seeking a skilled Kitchen Assistant/Prep Person to join our team.
Job Summary:The Kitchen Assistant/Prep Person will assist in the preparation of meals, maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, and supervise patient duties.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in food preparation, including salads, condiments, vegetables, and fruit.
- Utilize recipes for all food production.
- Adhere to menu quantity and quality practices to meet standards.
- Assist with meal service as directed by the cook.
- Secure all food when not in use or after use.
- Store deliveries in an organized manner.
- Follow kitchen procedures and communication guidelines.
- Maintain clean and sanitary food service areas, including the dining room.
- Apply Foodsafe practices to food prep, service, and storage areas.
- Use kitchen equipment safely and properly.
- Report equipment failures to appropriate personnel.
- Maintain safety and cleaning checklists as required.
- Control sharps and report discrepancies immediately.
- Be conversant with cleaning standards, routines, and expectations.
- Assist in the instruction and supervision of patients in their duties.
- Preference given for minimum 1 year commercial kitchen experience.
- Certified food handler certificate required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of food quality, production, sanitation, and presentation required.
- Knowledge of methods and procedures for serving food, principles of sanitation, and principles of safe food handling required.
- Effective communication skills.
- Highly effective teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail in all areas of work.
- Superior time management skills, multitasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
