Position/Status: Activity Aide – Permanent, Part Time

We are seeking a caring and passionate Activity Aide to join our team at Southbridge Care Homes. As an Activity Aide, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of our residents by planning and implementing activities that promote their physical, emotional, and social well-being.

The successful candidate will report to the Resident Program Manager and will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating individual and group activation programs based on assessed needs. They will also be responsible for setting up and cleaning activity areas, transporting residents to and from programs, and monitoring their behavior and condition during programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate individual and group activation programs based on assessed needs.
  • Set up and clean activity areas as necessary and transport residents to and from programs.
  • Monitor the behavior and condition of residents during programs and report any significant changes to the Resident Program Manager and nursing staff.
  • Maintain program and resident records according to department policy.
  • Work cooperatively with other departments to meet resident needs.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, or other related field from a community college or university, or enrolled in same required. If enrolled, must complete program within 3 years of hire date.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, as well as excellent documentation skills.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience in one-on-one/group program planning, implementation, and evaluation for both well and cognitively impaired residents.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to plan, implement, evaluate new ideas, resident programs, and volunteer initiatives.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in working with the geriatric population, especially those with cognitive impairments.
