About the Role

ABC Recycling Ltd. is seeking a skilled Torch Burner to join our team at our Abbotsford, B.C. location. As a Torch Burner, you will be responsible for cutting over-sized pieces of scrap metal to marketable size using oxy/propane fueled cutting torches. This role requires a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Safely layout scrap in operating area.
- Set up and maintain oxy acetylene/propane torches.
- Cut large or too thick pieces of metal into customer specifications.
- Ensure fire prevention and follow safety guidelines.
- Communicate with fellow workers in a professional manner.

Requirements

- Previous burner and/or labourer experience.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Dexterity – the job is physically demanding.
- Experience running a bobcat, forklift, and/or a torch/plasma cutter in a related industry is considered an asset.
- Attention to detail and a focus on safety are constantly required.
- Flexibility with work shifts and ability to travel occasionally.
