We are seeking a highly qualified individual for a full-time tenure-stream appointment in Planning at the University of Toronto. The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor and will take on the role of Director of the Planning Program for a three-year term.
Key Responsibilities- Teach core and elective courses in the accredited graduate Planning Program, including joint Geography-Planning courses, and an undergraduate course in the Department of Geography and Planning.
- Supervise graduate students and maintain an active research program that attracts international recognition in the selected candidate's area of expertise.
- Provide service within the University and to broader academic and professional communities, with a focus on social justice and anti-BIPOC racism.
- Collaborate with the Department Chair to work on internal initiatives relevant to the Planning Program.
- Ph.D. degree in Planning or a closely related field by the time of appointment.
- Established international reputation and a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching.
- Experience in academic leadership in Planning, including leadership roles in national or international academic organizations.
- Professional or practice-oriented experience in the applicant's area of expertise.
- Focus on planning for climate change and urban resilience, reparative, abolitionist and/or Indigenous planning, or urban data science.
- Membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) with the requisite Registered Professional Planner designation.
Applicants must submit their application materials, including a CV, cover letter, and teaching dossier, through the University of Toronto's recruiting tool. Three references must also be provided, with letters of reference submitted on letterhead, dated, and signed. The application deadline is November 4th, 2024.
