About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled MRI Technologist to join our team at Surrey Memorial Hospital. As an MRI Technologist, you will be responsible for performing MRI examinations in accordance with departmental policy and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform MRI examinations in accordance with established procedures, including completing requisitions and related paperwork, positioning patients, and explaining clinical procedures.
  2. Monitor patients during procedures and respond to possible contrast media reactions or other emergent situations.
  3. Conduct image studies using MRI equipment and departmental information systems, checking patient identification and collating images with requisitions.
  4. Facilitate the workflow of designated work areas, checking information on requisitions and regulating inpatient examination time.
  5. Perform quality control duties, including scheduling and performing equipment tests, recording results, and identifying malfunctioning equipment for repair.
  6. Participate in departmental Continuous Quality Improvement/LEAN programs, using established monitoring and auditing methodologies to perform quality assurance checks.
  7. Maintain designated work areas, checking and cleaning equipment, setting up examination trays, and receiving and stocking supplies.
  8. Demonstrate procedures and usage of equipment to staff, including medical residents, technologists, and students.
  9. Participate in maintaining patient and hospital records, entering data into radiology and hospital information systems as required.
  10. Respond to inquiries from other clinical areas regarding patient examinations and schedules, and refer other concerns to appropriate supervisors as required.
  11. Determine workload measurements and compile workload statistical reports and other reports, as required.
  12. Ensure that the department meets Health and Safety rules, regulations, and practices, including Fire, Disaster, WHMIS, Smart Moves, and Infection Control.
  13. Participate in approved research and special projects in collaboration with supervisors and other healthcare professionals.
  14. Maintain equipment by monitoring its operation and making arrangements for maintenance and repairs as required.
  15. Carry out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements, immediately reporting unsafe situations to supervisors or other appropriate personnel.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Certification with CAMRT (Magnetic Resonance Imaging).
  • Completion of Intravenous Therapy training course when required by site practice.
  • One (1) year recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) level.
