Maintenance Worker V/Power Engineer

The Fraser Health Authority is seeking a skilled Maintenance Worker V/Power Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and repair functions on buildings and equipment, as well as operating the power plant.
Responsibilities- Monitor, maintain, and repair electrical systems and related equipment, including troubleshooting electrical circuits and making repairs within capabilities.
- Perform electrical and mechanical repairs to equipment and appliances, including replacing and/or repairing items such as drive units, electric motors, and control valves.
- Repair plumbing fixtures, including sinks, toilets, water supply lines, and waste lines, and maintain and adjust all domestic water systems and related equipment.
- Monitor, maintain, and repair medical gas systems, sterilizer equipment, stills, and sanitizing washers, and record daily oxygen consumption.
- Maintain and repair building fabric, including walls, roofs, doors, and windows.
- Construct items such as walls, doors, floors, ceilings, and windows by framing, applying, and finishing materials such as drywall, wood paneling, and floor covering.
- Perform plastering, painting, and decorating by selecting a variety of paint, plaster, and wall coverings.
- Operate the steam and hot water plant as required by the boiler and pressure vessel safety act, monitoring, adjusting, and testing related equipment and safety devices, and performing chemical treatment and assuring efficient operation of the plant.
- Adjust HVAC controls to keep the building within specified comfortable limits.
- Operate and assure readiness at all times of the building emergency systems, including fire alarm systems and emergency stand-by generators, by performing inspections and tests, and taking appropriate action to maintain essential services during power failures and internal or external disasters.
- Maintain an inventory of supplies, equipment, and tools, complete related reports and records, and recommend purchase or related equipment and supplies.
- Perform emergency removal of snow and ice from entrances, walkways, and service driveways for the safety of visitors and staff.
Certificate of competency as a 4th Class Power Engineer recognized by the Province of B.C.
Two years recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to deal with others effectively.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
Ability to operate related equipment.
