Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Recreation Assistant to join our team at Optima Living. As a Recreation Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering recreation activities that promote the physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and cultural needs of our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage Residents: Develop meaningful relationships with residents through regular conversation and activities.
  • Program Coordination: Assist the recreation team in planning and implementing programs that cater to the diverse needs and interests of our residents.
  • One-on-One Support: Provide individualized support to residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.
  • Observation and Reporting: Monitor and report on resident care and services, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
  • Volunteer and Community Coordination: Assist in coordinating volunteers and community resources to enhance the quality of life for our residents.
  • Activity Setup and Cleanup: Ensure the smooth operation of recreation activities, including setup and cleanup.
  • Compliance: Operate in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other relevant regulations.
Requirements
  • Experience: Previous experience in a residential care setting is preferred.
  • Education: Completion of high school diploma.
  • Driver's License: Valid provincial class 4 driver's license is an asset.
  • Certifications: Completion of CPR and First Aid is an asset. Safe Food Handling Certificate is preferred.
  • Skills: Exceptional interpersonal skills, superior organizational skills, and superior oral and written communication skills.
