Head of Global Compliance and Operational Risk, Canada

We are seeking an experienced Head of Global Compliance and Operational Risk to lead our team in Canada. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in compliance and operational risk management, with experience in developing and implementing compliance and operational risk management programs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and reporting on Compliance and Operational Risk (COR) for a sub-region, including leading independent COR oversight of Front-Line Units, Control Functions, and Enterprise Areas of Coverage through setting strategic priorities, and overseeing execution of the COR Program.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements compliance and operational risk management programs across the Bank and its enterprise subsidiaries.
  • Leads the execution of the GCOR Program in the country or sub-region, ensuring each element is delivered on time, and to the required standard, including ensuring the effective review and challenge of Front-Line Units and Control Functions.
  • Oversees independent country COR reporting to GCOR senior leaders, country and regional management, and legal entity management via established governance and management routines.
  • Engages with regulators in the region, participating in meetings between business leaders and regulators and overseeing responses to regulatory inquiries on COR functions.
  • Represents GCOR on country senior management and legal entity governance forums, reporting on current state and escalating issues or concerns, including the communication of emerging compliance and operational risk.
  • Serves as the Designated Privacy Officer (DPO) for Canada.
