Job Summary
The Seven Oaks General Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Security Officer to maintain the general security of the hospital and its equipment. This is a critical role that requires a strong sense of responsibility and a commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of patients, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Control public access to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are granted entry.
- Operate the Security Visual and Audio Communication Control systems, providing 24-hour coverage on a rotating shift basis.
- Monitor and respond to security incidents, including but not limited to, alarms, suspicious activity, and emergency situations.
- Collaborate with hospital staff and security personnel to maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Conduct regular patrols of the hospital premises, identifying and addressing potential security risks.
- Develop and implement security protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Grade 12, Manitoba Standards, minimum.
- Police, investigative, or fire protection background an asset.
- Experience with Computerized Windows environment or other equivalent computer software experience required.
- Good physical and mental health to meet position demands.
- Must be bondable and eligible for appointment as a Special Constable with the Department of Attorney General.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with others.
- Uses tact and diplomacy, and must be able to maintain confidentiality according to Department and Hospital Policy.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently.
- Have a good command of the English language.
- Must possess a valid Manitoba Security Guard License and/or any future license mandated by the province to perform the duties of the Protection Services Officer.
Working Conditions
The Security Officer will work in a fast-paced environment, requiring the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively. The position involves working varied shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends, as well as rotating shifts.
