Principal Quantum Engineer – Qubit Development

Join Photonic Inc. as a key member of our silicon qubit development team, where you will play a crucial role in enhancing the performance of qubit architectures. As a leader in quantum science or physics, you will make technical decisions quickly while keeping a view of the broader context to accelerate learning and derisking.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and execute rapid technical derisking projects for Photonic's T centre qubits in the context of complex, multivariate problems to iterate quickly towards solutions
  • Lead the feedback loop with the Photonic nanofabrication, materials development, and modelling teams to accelerate progress
  • Collect high-quality data efficiently
  • Track and document project progress and outcomes, and communicate across the organization
Requirements:
  • Masters or PhD in Experimental Quantum Information, Physics, Engineering, or related field
  • ~10+ years of postdoc, professorial, and/or industry experience in physics, quantum computing and/or quantum engineering
  • ~ Deep familiarity with one or more quantum computing platforms (e.g. ion traps, neutral atoms, defect centres, solid-state spins, superconducting qubits)
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to new situations in rapidly changing research environment
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively solve engineering problems
  • Ability to relocate and work on site within the greater Vancouver, BC, Canada area (work permit support can be provided)
