Director of Project Delivery

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Project Delivery to join our team at Partner Staffing. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading the project delivery discipline and providing technical and strategic support to our Project Management, Construction Management, and Engineering Departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic objectives and growth strategies for the Project Delivery team across Alberta, including Engineering Project Management (PM) and Construction Management (CM).
  • Lead discipline pursuit plans and strategies, and stay up to date with industry best practices to ensure department efficiency.
  • Ensure operational alignment between Project Management, Construction Management, and Engineering Departments, and provide technical and strategic support to these teams.
  • Actively pursue new clients for Project Delivery in Alberta, including tracking and evaluating all opportunities.
  • Identify and secure partnership opportunities, and lead and participate in RFP processes for Project Delivery opportunities.
  • Collaborate with other divisions to actively promote our company and its services.
  • Responsible for sponsoring and overseeing projects within the department, and accountable for annual department budget objectives, including gross margin and utilization.
  • Oversee the development of division policies, procedures, and templates, and monitor the fiscal performance and profitability of the PM, CM, and Engineering Departments.
  • Set key performance indicators for direct reports, conduct annual performance reviews, and ensure performance reviews are completed for all Project Delivery staff.
  • Responsible for the management, growth, and mentoring of direct reports, and lead and actively participate in Project Delivery resource planning.
  • Provide mentorship to division staff, and assist with identifying and recruiting key staff.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate engineering or technical discipline, or a Commercial or Legal Degree with strong experience in the engineering/construction industry.
  • 20 years of working experience on Energy, Utility, Transportation, Marine, and Infrastructure projects.
  • Experience managing 10 direct reports in a multidisciplinary engineering function.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills with project stakeholders, the public, clients, regulatory agencies, and consultants/contractors.
  • Experience with business development activities, including the RFP process and proposal preparation/submission.
  • Project Management/Coordination for engineering assignments.
  • Registered as a P.Eng. with APEGA and other Western Canadian Provinces, preferable.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation with the Project Management Institute (PMI) considered an asset.

We are seeking a motivated and energetic Director of Project Delivery to provide technical and strategic support to our Project Management, Construction Management, and Engineering Departments in Calgary, Alberta. This person will also lead the Project Delivery discipline pursuit plans and strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend site meetings and serve as the main point of contact for the builder for any project-related questions/requests.
  • Understand project specifications and objectives, and proactively identify potential issues.
  • Report on milestone dates and deliverables, and respond to field issues and questions with engineering and other resources as required.
  • Investigate claims promptly and resolve them fairly, and support and engage in a collaborative work environment.
  • Liaise with Architect, Client, Contractor, Owner, Specialty Consultants, Project Manager, Job Captain, and Project Engineer.
  • Complete time-critical reports, including Request for Information, Contemplated Revisions, Change Orders, Field Review, Pricing Review, Progress Claim Review, Issue and sign off on Site Deficiency Reports, verify and accept As Built Drawings and Operational and Maintenance Manuals, and ensure all required information has been received prior to issuance of Closing Letters.
  • Provide customer service levels that meet or exceed customers' expectations, and actively work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Education & Experience:

  • Educational or trade background in electrical design, and design background in building technology is a definite asset.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role, and experience in building General Reviews.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and proven ability to meet deadlines/successful completion of deliverables.
  • Ability to communicate and work well with other departments, and excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, and team and client-focused.

Technical Abilities:

  • Candidates must have a good working knowledge of current construction practices, including working drawing production and construction reviews, as well as specifications, contracts, and consultant agreements.
  • Experience and knowledge of building lighting, power, and systems is a must, and mechanical expertise in HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systems is an asset.
  • AutoCAD and REVIT drawing review experience, and experience with Microsoft Suite tools (Word, Outlook, and Excel).

Requirement:

  • Must have a vehicle and valid driver's license for the province of Ontario.
