Senior Clinical Biochemist

The Government of Prince Edward Island is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Clinical Biochemist to lead the provincial clinical chemistry program. As a key member of the Provincial Laboratory Services team, you will provide clinical leadership and expert technical and scientific advice to laboratory staff across the province.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical leadership for the Health PEI clinical biochemistry program and expert technical and scientific advice to laboratory staff;
- Determine chemistry test menus in coordination with clinical departments/programs;
- Ensure testing procedures conform to professional standards and regulation;
- Review and interpret biochemistry test results, carrying out formal clinical biochemical consultations;
- Advise on or initiate other biochemistry tests as required and assist in developing utilization guidelines;
- Work with chief technologists and supervisors to ensure internal and external quality control;
- Chair the Provincial Point of Care Committee;
- Develop relationships with referral laboratories;
- Teach medical technologists, medical students, residents, and medical laboratory technology students;
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Clinical Biochemistry or related field;
- Significant experience in clinical biochemistry, preferably in a leadership role;
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures and regulations;
- Excellent communication and leadership skills;
