The Phoenix Drug & Alcohol Recovery and Education Society is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Program Assistant to support the daily operations of the Phoenix Centre. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with the management team to ensure a safe, well-maintained, and healthy environment for residents.

Main Responsibilities:

">
  • Monitor and assess resident behaviours and client movement in and out of the building.
  • Conduct random (or client-requested) basic wellness checks on clients that may require support.
  • Report behaviours to supervisory staff that pose a risk to the resident, other residents, staff, and/or the community.
  • Assist clients with the development of life skills, healthy daily living, social activities, meeting their obligations, keeping appointments, and promoting effective social and interpersonal skills.
  • Engage with residents and ensure safety and expectations of the program agreement are being met.

Required Qualifications:

">
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Certificate in Community Social Service or equivalent.
  • Recent, related experience working with marginalized populations, substance use services, mental health, corrections, etc.
  • Satisfactory completion of a criminal records check with vulnerable sector screening.
  • First Aid 1 and Current CPR certificate.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, and database management systems.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including telephone system, fax machine, photocopier, printer, and computerized building security monitoring system.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and creative skills with the ability to exercise sound judgement and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis.

Salary and Benefits:
