Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Ethics Leadership Specialist to join our team at Fraser Health.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide clinical ethics consultation services and support across the health care continuum within the Fraser Health region. This includes conducting and facilitating ethics consultations, attending ethics huddles and rounds, and working with ethics champions to promote ethical decision-making.

Main Responsibilities
  • Conducts and facilitates ethics consultations to address ethical issues pertaining to patient care;
  • Provides ethics support within the clinical environment, including attending ethics meetings and working with staff to develop a strong network of partnerships;
  • Works with ethics champions to mentor them in using their ethical decision-making skills and promote clinical ethics consultation services;
  • Plans, coordinates, and delivers education, training, and coaching on ethically challenging issues, ethics consultation, and decision-making;
  • Collaborates with other Ethicists and FHES team members to meet departmental objectives in ethics education, system-level consultation, and leadership support;
  • Represents Fraser Health and Ethics Services at various events and performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a doctoral degree in ethics, philosophy, or moral theology, or a terminal degree in a vocation related to bioethics, along with 3-5 years of experience providing clinical ethics consultation in a complex health care environment.

Competencies

Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary ethics approaches, ability to formulate recommendations based on systematic analyses of ethical dilemmas, and effective communication skills are essential for this role.
