Job Title: Certified Journeyperson Trades Position – Maintenance Crew

West Fraser is a leading diversified forest products company, recognized as one of Canada's Top 100 Employers and one of Canada's Best Employers for Recent Graduates. We are seeking an experienced tradesperson to join our maintenance team at our Edson Sawmill in Alberta.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform welding and gouging on a wide range of equipment and machinery
  • Repair and rebuild mill components
  • Fabricate and weld multiple material types
  • Assist other trades throughout the mill
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and procedures at all times
  • Conduct routine inspections and address maintenance issues promptly
  • Implement preventive maintenance strategies to extend the lifespan of machinery
Requirements:
  • Certified Trade Journeyperson
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently, with strong problem-solving skills
  • Proven experience in maintenance within a sawmill or similar industrial setting
  • Ability to read drawings and identify equipment components
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical equipment
  • Flexibility to work in shifts and respond to emergency maintenance requests
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures within an industrial setting
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with colleagues
  • Good with working at heights
  • Great troubleshooting skills
