Job Title: Database Operations Engineer

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Operations Engineer to join our team at Manulife. As a key member of our database operations team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex database systems to support our business applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement database migration strategies to ensure seamless transitions between on-prem and cloud environments.
  • Lead complex troubleshooting and technical issue resolution for database-related problems.
  • Manage database backups, recovery procedures, and performance tuning to ensure optimal database performance.
  • Develop and maintain customized dashboards and alerts to monitor database health and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement database solutions that meet business requirements.

Requirements:

  • 4-7 years of experience in database operations, with a focus on SQL Server and Azure cloud platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of database migration tools, such as Data Migration Assistant and Data Migration Services.
  • Experience with Azure Geo Replication for High Availability and High Availability Solution-Clustering & Always On.
  • Strong understanding of database security, compliance, and hardening standards.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with PostgreSQL and AWS platforms.
  • Knowledge of AIOps tools, such as Moogsoft.
  • Experience with Resource Governor and SSRS.
  • Knowledge of Azure Databricks, ADF, ADLS, and Synapse for data pipeline design and development.
