Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in Bioprocessing and Biomanufacturing

Job Summary:

The Department of Chemical & Materials Engineering at the University of Alberta is seeking a tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank with a focus on bioprocessing and biomanufacturing. We welcome applications from scholars with research expertise in bioprocessing of biologics, vaccines, biofuels, specialty chemicals, and other bioproducts, as well as environmental bioprocesses, processes for cell therapy, metabolic/enzymatic engineering, and cellular agriculture.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teaching (40%): Participate in teaching programs, including classroom teaching, supervision of students conducting research, and personal interactions with and advising students.
  • Research (40%): Participate in research, including the preparation or performance of creative works and reflective inquiry, and disseminating research results by means appropriate to the discipline.
  • Service (20%): Engage in service to the University and participate in departmental, Faculty, and University governance.
Qualifications:
  1. Ph.D. in chemical engineering, biochemical engineering, bioprocess engineering, or a closely related field.
  2. Experience effectively communicating research results within and outside the academy.
  3. Ability to develop, instruct, and engage learners in engineering curriculum.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
