Tax Manager

Fengate Asset Management is seeking a highly skilled Tax Manager to join our Corporate Finance team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting the firm's tax requirements and helping guide the tax strategy for our firm, funds, and portfolio investments.
Key Responsibilities:- Act as a subject matter expert and key liaison internally and externally on all tax compliance and advisory related matters.
- Collaborate with the Director, Tax in managing tax risks and supporting the execution of the firm's tax strategy.
- Manage all tax due diligence questions from prospective LPs, working with tax advisors as needed.
- Stay up-to-date with proposed new tax legislation impacting the firm, its funds, or its investments and assess the impact of these changes.
- Contribute new ideas to develop best-in-class processes and procedures.
- Assist with special ad-hoc projects and other ad-hoc financial and tax analysis as requested.
- Undergraduate degree in accounting, specializing in tax or other relevant technical discipline with a minimum of 4 years of experience.
- CPA designation required.
- Completion of CPA In-depth Tax Program required (or currently enrolled with high likelihood of successful completion).
- Tax and accounting experience in the investment fund industry is highly preferred.
- Experience in FATCA, CRS highly preferred.
- Experience in HST in investment fund industry preferred.
- High attention to detail.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with respect to managing workload and professional development.
- Excellent analytical, and problem-solving ability.
- Exceptional quality standards and an ongoing desire to push for new approaches, insights, and presentation methods.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with strict deadlines as a part of a team.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to handle high volume and fast-paced requests from different stakeholders and the ability to time manage, prioritize, and manage expectations.
The position can be based out of either the Toronto or Oakville office.
