About the Role

The Recreation Therapist - Forensic Psychiatry will play a critical role in providing recreation and leisure services to patients with mental health disorders. This position requires a strong understanding of therapeutic recreation principles and practices, as well as experience working with complex populations.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized recreation plans for patients
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to inform treatment planning
  • Stay up-to-date on best practices and evidence-based interventions
Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation & Leisure, or related field
  • Membership in good standing with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (TRO)
  • Registration designation from R/TRO or R/TRO DIP preferred
  • First Aid, CPR, CPI, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Gentle Persuasive Approach training required
  • Experience working with forensic psychiatry clients and their families
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal legislation relevant to client population and clinical setting
