Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Electrical Engineering Intern to join our production testing and prototyping team at Dana Incorporated. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting production tests for all products in our portfolio, including electric propulsion systems and electronic boards.

Your primary responsibilities will include designing new test equipment and tooling, writing specifications, and commissioning test stations on site and at international production sites. You will also be responsible for supporting production on site and at joint ventures, suppliers, and international production sites, as well as creating and maintaining production documentation and control plans.

In addition to these responsibilities, you will participate in new product engineering and prototype testing, contribute to the improvement and maintenance of our quality system, and develop and optimize task management tools and monitoring indicators relevant to the various stations and equipment.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in electrical engineering, experience with National Instruments tools, and proficiency in computer systems, including the Office suite. You will also need to be able to interpret electrical and component drawings, assembly diagrams, and technical specifications, and have excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop production testing strategies and methods for products manufactured by Dana Incorporated;
  • Design new test equipment and tooling, respecting health & safety rules and ergonomics;
  • Write specifications, analyze bids for new equipment, and qualify equipment upon receipt;
  • Commission test stations on site and at joint ventures, suppliers, and international production sites;
  • Support production on site and at joint ventures, suppliers, and international production sites;
  • Create and maintain production documentation and control plans;
  • Handle non-conformities in production/inspection and actively participate in customer returns;
  • Participate in new product engineering and prototype testing;
  • Contribute to the improvement and maintenance of the quality system (ISO9001, IATF16949);
  • Develop, create, and optimize task management tools and monitoring indicators relevant to the various stations and equipment (KPIs);
  • Ensure that projects are carried out in accordance with internal procedures;
  • Find appropriate solutions to problems related to defined risks;
  • Act as a firefighter to manage ad hoc requests (repairs, investigations, etc.);
  • Participate in the continuous improvement dynamic to contribute to the company's efficiency and the evolution of the profession;
  • Develop, create, and optimize project management tools and monitoring indicators relevant to the various projects (KPIs);
  • Create/improve processes to optimize prototyping team activities;
  • Coordinate teams of prototyping and industrialization technicians;

Requirements:

  • BAC student in Electrical Engineering, Software, or equivalent;
  • Experience with National Instruments tools (TestStand, LabVIEW, XCP) (an asset);
  • Experience in programming VBA, Java, Java script, C Sharp (an asset);
  • Experience in client/server interaction (an asset);
  • Ability to interpret electrical and component drawings, assembly diagrams, and technical specifications;
  • Proficiency in computer systems, including the Office suite (SharePoint is an asset);
  • Programming experience in VBA, Java, Java script, C Sharp, Altium designer (an asset);
  • Experience in client/server interaction (an asset);
