Job Overview

As a Personal Support Worker with Spectrum Health Care, you will play a vital role in our healthcare system. You will work closely with our patients and their families, providing personal care and support with activities of daily living. This ensures patients can recover safely from an acute illness or remain in their homes throughout the aging process.

  • Provide personalized care and assistance with daily tasks, such as bathing, toileting, skincare, meal preparation, and feeding, in patients' residences or facilities.
  • Continuously assess patients' needs and respond accordingly, communicating available resources when necessary.
  • Perform delegated tasks under the supervision of a Home Support Supervisor.
  • Travel within assigned regions between patients' residences or facilities.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • One of the following qualifications: A valid Personal Support Worker Certificate from a Ministry-approved program, RN/RPN Student with a minimum first-year completion, or Internationally licensed Nurse, Midwife, or Physician.
  • The physical ability to meet job demands, including standing, bending, walking, crouching, kneeling, and reaching for extended periods.
  • Able to lift 23 kg independently and assist clients with standing, walking, sitting, and repositioning in bed.
  • Demonstrated exceptional personal care and customer service skills.
  • A valid Standard First Aid and Level C CPR certification.
  • A valid Vulnerable Sector Criminal Check.
  • An updated TB Test within the last 12 months.
  • Proficient verbal and written English communication skills; additional language skills are considered an asset.
