About the Role

HF Sinclair is seeking a highly skilled Materials Technologist/Inspector to join our team at the Lubricants Facility. As a key member of our inspection team, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of our fixed equipment and piping systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement inspection plans for various types of static equipment
  • Manage and coordinate non-destructive testing programs (NDT) and core inspection programs
  • Communicate and address daily issues related to static equipment or piping with Maintenance and Operations
  • Participate in failure analysis, root cause analysis, HAZOPs and materials selection processes
  • Direct contract inspection/NDE resources
  • Assist maintenance processes with shutdown planning and inspection support via SAP
  • Provide technical direction in an Area Team environment for fixed equipment in assigned unit areas of responsibility

Requirements

  • 2 – 5 years of inspection experience in a related role
  • Experience in a Petrochemical/Refinery is preferred
  • A technical graduate of a materials related discipline (Materials or Welding technology)
  • Certified API 510/570 certification is preferred

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledgeable on the application of Risk Based Inspection (RBI) and Asset Integrity Strategies
  • Working knowledge of API 653 as well as 579, 580, 581. Certification of API 510 or API 570 is an asset
  • Knowledge of root cause failure analysis, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques, welding processes and basic metallurgy
  • Excellent decision-making skills
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic SAP proficiency
  • Ability to foster team participation
  • Self-starter
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to build construction relationships with our customers, government agencies, contractors and manufacturers

Work Environment

  • This role is an on-site role, located at the Lubricants Facility
  • This is a safety sensitive position
