Job Overview

We are seeking two full-time Tree Workers to join our Parks Department team. As a Tree Worker, you will be responsible for performing skilled manual tree hazard mitigation work, including pruning and removal of District trees. This role requires a high level of physical fitness, attention to detail, and a commitment to ensuring the safety of all workers and the public.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform tree pruning and removal services using ropes, safety harnesses, power saws, and other hand tools and machinery.
  • Cut or remove trees using appropriate rigging, winching, and cutting techniques.
  • Perform heavy manual duties related to tree work, including planting, staking, fertilizing, and mulching trees.
  • Report indications of hazardous trees, tree pests, and diseases to a superior.
  • Operate a truck and chipper to transport materials to and from the work site.
Requirements
  • Completion of grade 12 schooling supplemented by post-secondary or other recognized courses related to arboriculture/urban forestry.
  • Considerable related experience in arboriculture/urban forestry.
  • OF A Level 1, recognized chainsaw certification, ISA certification (or equivalent), and relevant SkilledTradesBC certification (or equivalent) would be considered an asset.
  • A valid Class 5 BC Driver's License is required.
