Nurse Practitioner Specialist

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values of Island Health, patient and staff safety is a top priority. As a key member of our interdisciplinary healthcare team, you will be responsible for the comprehensive assessment of patients, including diagnosing diseases, disorders, and conditions. You will initiate treatment, including healthcare management, therapeutic interventions, and prescribe medications in accordance with statutory and regulatory standards, limits, and conditions, policy, and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities- Provide professional guidance to other healthcare professionals and practice autonomously and interdependently within the context of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and communities to identify and assess trends and patterns that have implications for patient care.
- Develop and implement population and evidence-based strategies to improve health and participate in policy-making activities that influence healthcare services and practices.
- Participate in peer review and self-review to evaluate the outcome of services at the patient, community, and population level.
This role requires a strong foundation in nursing practice, with a focus on advanced assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. You will be responsible for making referrals to physicians and other healthcare professionals as needed. A collaborative and patient-centered approach is essential for success in this role.
