Job Summary:

Headwater Equipment Sparwood is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team. As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing repairs and maintenance on heavy construction equipment, diesel and diesel electric mining machinery, and other heavy-duty vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform repairs and maintenance on heavy construction equipment, diesel and diesel electric mining machinery, and other heavy-duty vehicles
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues to determine the extent of repair required
  • Adjust and repair or replace defective parts as needed
  • Instruct apprentices and keep maintenance records
  • Interact with customers and operators with a positive attitude

Requirements:

  • Experience with construction and mining equipment
  • Journeyman or Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician - Off Road and/or On Road certification
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
  • Valid driver's license and abstract required
  • Ability to work in a team environment and enjoy working with heavy equipment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Sany, Rokbak, Caterpillar, Komatsu, and John Deere equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
  • Knowledge of Cummins, Scania, Isuzu, and Deutz engines and equipment
  • Valid Off Road equipment ticket from their province, if not in possession of Red seal, or AB Off Road ticket

What We Offer:

  • Industry-competitive wages and above
  • $47/hr to $53/hr - Depending on Experience and if in the Field or Shop
  • Overtime at time and a half after 8 hours/day
  • Nightshift premium
  • When in the field, Hotels/Condo are paid, travel time paid, as well living out allowance
  • Headwater will assist with moving expenses
  • This is a permanent full-time position

Work Environment:

  • Guaranteed minimum of 44 Hrs/week - Overtime available and paid at time and a half
  • Sparwood Location - 5x5 shift rotation with a typical day being 12 hours

Locations:

  • We are looking for mechanics to ideally be based out of the Sparwood BC area - if field work is slow we have our field technicians work out of other locations
  • We have expanded our service field of scope - we are also hiring for the Edmonton area
  • We have remote work locations include Northern AB, Southern SK and Manitoba
