Job Overview

The Society of Christian Schools in BC is seeking a highly skilled Behaviour Consultant to join our team. As a Behaviour Consultant, you will play a critical role in supporting the academic and behavioural growth of students with exceptionalities.

About the Role

We are looking for a Behaviour Consultant who has experience working with students with high-incidence and low-incidence designations. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, a growth mindset, and the ability to collaborate with classroom teachers and Educational Assistants to develop student success and independence.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain an IEP caseload and provide direct and indirect academic and behaviour instruction to students
• Work alongside classroom teachers and Educational Assistants to develop student success and independence
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that meet the unique needs of each student
• Collaborate with school-based team members and staff to support instruction and interventions for students with exceptionalities
• Provide training and support to classroom teachers on effective instructional strategies and assessment practices

Requirements

To be successful as a Behaviour Consultant, you will need:
1. Training and successful teaching experience
2. A valid BC teaching certificate or Independent Schools Teaching Certificate
3. A Master's degree in Special Education or relevant equivalent experience
4. Knowledge of the BC Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures
5. Experience working with students with exceptionalities and developing individualized education plans (IEPs)
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
7. Ability to work collaboratively with classroom teachers and Educational Assistants
