Job Description

The successful candidate will perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks in their trade, including installation, repair, replacement, maintenance, inspection, and operation of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, general maintenance, environment controls, and life safety systems. They will receive and action work orders within the allotted time frame.

The facilities mechanic/plumbing position manages diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain facility equipment and building according to safety, predictive, and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site's business goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Performs work in accordance with established processes and response & rectification guidelines
  2. Complies with all internal and external requirements, including environmental, health, and safety, fire protection
  3. Performs regular inspections, preventative, and corrective measures to ensure facility uptime objectives are met, uninterrupted client operation, and asset integrity of assigned facilities are maintained
  4. Provides observations about facilities, facility mechanical, and electrical equipment and systems conditions and deficiencies, and provides suggestions for enhancement and repair
  5. Monitors assigned facilities by conducting facility walkthroughs, mechanical, and electrical equipment, and system monitoring and inspection
  6. Responds to routine and on-demand service requests and performs preventative and corrective measures on facility building fabric and mechanical and electrical equipment and systems
  7. Records resolution data within service facility management database
  8. Ensures work completed meets quality, contract response, and all other requirements
  9. Receives, tracks, monitors, and reports status of facility and repair work within service Facility Management Database
  10. Initiates documents to obtain formal approval of work required
  11. Works with subcontractors and performs preventative, repairs, and calibration on mechanical/electrical equipment
  12. Recommends spare parts and supply purchases for facility equipment
  13. Accurately maintains/completes all equipment logbooks and facility records
  14. Assists in the implementation of preventative Facility (PM) program
  15. Ensures that deficiencies are identified, recorded, and escalated, and related documentations are maintained
  16. Participates in and assists with facility-related projects
  17. Ensures the manner in which work is performed is in compliance with corporate and legislated policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines related to environmental, health, and safety, fire protection, and any other applicable requirements
  18. Maintains all assigned tools and arranges for repair and replacement where required
  19. Assists in enhancing customer satisfaction and maintaining positive relations through the manner in which work is performed and services delivered
Requirements

The ideal candidate must have:

  • High school completion plus a red seal certificate in the plumbing trade
  • Minimum 3 years of plumbing experience
  • Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) – Metasys knowledge is an asset
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics specific to their trade, where applicable
  • Excellent communication skills (verbally, written)
  • Positive, professional disposition, and ability to cooperate with co-workers and supervisors and contribute productively to a project team
  • Strong client-service orientation along with a high sense of urgency
  • Ability to succeed in a team-oriented environment under very dynamic (changing) conditions
Work Requirements

  • Be available for on-call/standby and emergency call-outs as they arise
  • Wear personal protective equipment
  • Use hand tools, lift/carry 50 lbs., and work on ladders/step stools
