Job Title: Materials Technician

We are seeking a skilled Materials Technician to join our Construction Services team in North West BC and surrounding areas.

About the Role

As a Materials Technician, you will assist the Field Lead in conducting field and laboratory testing of aggregate, soils, and concrete. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the Field Lead in conducting field and laboratory testing of aggregate, soils, and concrete.
  • Performing a variety of lab materials testing and field testing.
  • Assisting with mentoring new and junior employees.
  • Assisting with maintaining laboratory certifications.
  • Communicating test results and providing technical advice to internal staff and external clients.
  • Working with cross-discipline teams to ensure projects are completed within allotted schedules, budgets, and to high-quality standards.
  • Ensuring safety guidelines are adhered to within the lab and in the field.
  • Coordinating field equipment and performing and recording routine instrument maintenance and calibration of select equipment.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Completion of a Civil Engineering Technology diploma (asset, but not required).
  • 1+ years of progressive experience in lab and field materials testing.
  • CCIL and/or CSA certification (preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written).
  • Proven ability to interact and collaborate with team members in a multi-disciplined environment.
  • Technical competence and strong attention to detail.
