Job Description

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Transportation Engineer to join our team at IBI Group. This role will provide technical support and services to our Traffic Engineering / Transportation Planning team, helping to shape the future of transportation infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct traffic impact studies, including data collection, analysis, and modeling
  • Develop parking studies, including policy review, demand analysis, and supply recommendations
  • Prepare technical memos and reports
  • Design roadway conceptual and functional plans, including cross-sections and plan view drawings
  • Develop traffic management plans during construction, including typical plans
  • Design traffic signage and pavement marking plans
  • Design traffic signals, including signal timing and phasing plans
  • Assist with proposal development, budgeting, and scheduling
  • Coordinate with other design disciplines, offices, and staff
  • Manage data collection by third parties for some assignments
  • Liaise with clients and the public
  • Assist with broader transportation planning studies, including problem definition, option evaluation, and recommendation development

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or College diploma in Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, or Engineering Technology with a focus on Transportation
  • 5+ years of experience in traffic engineering and transportation planning, including technical and business development experience
  • Experience in managing small projects and studies would be an asset
  • Working knowledge of Synchro and/or similar traffic analysis software is required
  • Ability in AutoCAD at a basic level is required; additional skill would be beneficial
  • Working knowledge of EMME, AIMSUN, VISSIM, SIDRA would each be beneficial
  • Working knowledge of TAC/ BC/ Alberta / municipal geometric design standards is beneficial
  • Collaborative attitude and ability to work independently with direction and supervision as needed
  • Ability to work within established timelines and project budgets
