Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Snow and Ice Operations Specialist to join our team at the University of Guelph. As a Snow and Ice Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for the operation of a variety of vehicles, machinery, and related equipment used in snow and ice clearing, and landscape and maintenance operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate vehicles equipped with snow plows, dump trucks, and 4-wheel drive vehicles, as well as farm tractors and other equipment.
  • Keep accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance.
  • Assist with the installation of fence and signs, and perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Service equipment and perform routine maintenance tasks.
  • Work collaboratively with the Grounds department to ensure efficient and effective snow and ice clearing operations.
Requirements
  • Grade 11 education (Grade 12 preferred).
  • DZ driver's license.
  • Several years' experience in the operation of trucks, snow plow-equipped vehicles, tractors, small loaders, mowers, etc.
  • Knowledge of established safety practices.
  • Ability to keep accurate records and to read and interpret schedules, equipment directions, instructions, etc.
Working Conditions

This is a temporary full-time position, working a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends. The successful candidate will be required to provide a clean 3-year uncertified driver's record ('Driver's Abstract') from ServiceOntario as a condition of employment.
