Eastern Ontario, Canada Walk of Grace Residential Services Inc. Full time

We are a family-owned and operated residential home for children and adults with developmental disabilities, providing over 30 years of combined experience in the field. Our team is committed to making a positive impact on children's lives while guiding and supporting them to enhance their well-being.

As a Treatment Counsellor, you will actively engage with the community and gain a sense of accomplishment from the work you complete. You will establish meaningful lifelong relationships with children, youths, adult residents, and families, facilitating a loving and safe family environment.

Our philosophy focuses on building skills through positive behavior support frameworks, covering areas such as communication, hygiene, daily living, social, and leisure skills. As an employee at Walk of Grace Residential Services Inc., you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and comfort of our residents.

Daily responsibilities may include:

  • Completing overnight documentation and clinical data
  • Conducting bedroom checks to ensure resident safety
  • Resolving conflict issues
  • Writing detailed reports for case management
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the home
  • Preparing meals
  • Implementing Behavior Support Programs
  • De-escalating crisis situations
  • Undertaking administrative tasks and maintaining proper data collection
  • Mentoring, coaching, and supporting individuals
  • Encouraging positive behavior
  • Taking into account the physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of each individual
  • Teaching new behaviors and skills using Applied Behavior Analysis techniques and positive behavior supports
  • Increasing and refining the knowledge of parents/guardians by offering simple programs and strategies
  • Providing a safe and flourishing household that protects and upholds one's cultural identity, sexuality, beliefs, and values while fostering self-growth

This role requires flexible scheduling, including 10 hour shifts, 12 hour shifts, 4 hour shifts, and 8 hour shifts, typically during day shifts from Monday to Friday. While we prefer night shift availability, this is not strictly required. The compensation package includes $23.00-$25.50 per hour, plus benefits such as dental care, disability insurance, extended health care, life insurance, and vision care.
