Crossing Guard

The Corporation of the Town of Ajax is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Crossing Guard. As a Crossing Guard, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe crossing of pedestrians of all ages at designated locations throughout the Town.

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct and supervise the movement of persons across the roadway
• Monitor vehicle and pedestrian traffic management at the crossing
• Provide education to pedestrians on safe crossing practices
• Respond to emergency issues involving vehicles and pedestrian traffic at a crossing
• Report safety issues to supervisor as required
• Provide exceptional customer service to pedestrians and the public

Requirements:

• Able to stand at a crossing for up to five hours per day in all types of weather
• Able to work in adverse weather conditions and be capable of working under all types of road conditions
• Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public
• Able to remain calm and use good judgment in emergency situations
• Able to work independently without supervision
• Must provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening Check before commencing work

What We Offer:

• Rate of Pay: $19.71 - $21.42 per hour
• Hours of Work: This is a non-union position that works approximately 12 hours per week and depends on crossing location
