Job Summary

The University of Saskatchewan is seeking a Governance Officer to provide strategic governance support to the University Secretary and Chief Governance Officer. This role will involve coordinating university governance processes, developing engagement strategies, and providing support to the University Secretary and university leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage Governance Portfolios
    • Assign and maintain governance portfolios, ensuring statutory requirements are met.
    • Coordinate and implement governance processes, including Senate meetings and business.
  • Stakeholder Stewardship
    • Develop and maintain strong links between the administration and governing bodies.
    • Support the University Secretary and university leadership in their governance roles.
  • Operationalize Governance Office Strategy
    • Work towards the goals and objectives of the University Secretary and the Governance Office.
    • Develop and implement strategies to support the university's governance and decision-making processes.
  • Project Management and Research
    • Manage discrete projects and research initiatives that support the Governance Office's strategic plan.
    • Conduct research and analysis to inform governance decisions and strategies.
  • Equity, Diversity, Inclusion (EDI), and Indigenization
    • Integrate EDI and Indigenous strategies into governance portfolios and projects.
    • Support the university's policies and strategies on equity, diversity, inclusion, and Indigenization.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Post-secondary degree in a relevant field, such as governance, law, or public administration.
    • Minimum 2 years of experience in governance, policy development, or a related field.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Strong knowledge of university governance processes and policies.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Working Conditions

This is a permanent, full-time position with a salary range of $69,286.00 per annum. The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
