Job Title: Driver

Under the direction of the Manager, Environmental Services or the Supervisor, Environmental Services, the Driver is responsible for performing various activities related to environmental services, transportation, and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Transport linen and other items to off-site facilities served by the Regional laundry.
  • Load and unload trucks, perform minor repairs and preventive maintenance checks, and maintain maintenance logs for vehicles.
  • Collect and sort soiled linens, weigh and record soiled linen to be processed, and operate laundry equipment when necessary.
  • Distribute laundry and linen as appropriate, ensure all equipment is clean and operating efficiently, and clean assigned areas in accordance with current established cleaning schedules and infection control guidelines.
  • Prioritize and complete extra cleaning duties within established timeframes and in accordance with current cleaning schedule.
  • Conduct daily tours of areas of responsibility prior to end of shift, inspecting each area for cleanliness, and restock supplies in all areas as required.
  • Assist with inventory procedures and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Grade 9 education (Manitoba Standards) or other combinations of suitable education and experience may be considered.
  • Province of Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License with Air Brake Authorization.
  • Clean drivers abstract.
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods Training.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint), as well as Internet applications and other Information Technology.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, ability to work independently, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to facilitate changes in techniques and procedures, ability to display independent judgment, and respect for a culturally diverse population.
