Vivarium Director

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vivarium Director to lead the day-to-day operations of the campus vivarium and animal care program at the University of Toronto Scarborough.

• Oversee the management of finances, resources, and compliance with regulatory standards for the vivarium.
• Apply animal care and research technical skills to support on-the-floor activities and serve as back-up for CUPE/USW roles in the facility.
• Develop and implement training programs for faculty, staff, and students to ensure conformity with Provincial and Canadian Council of Animal Care (CCAC) standards.
• Liaise with researchers, staff, and other stakeholders to communicate vivarium-related issues and support university committees in campus-wide animal research initiatives.

• Graduation from a recognized Veterinary Technology program or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Canadian Association of Laboratory Animal Service (RLAT) certification.
• A minimum six years of experience in management and operational oversight of an animal research facility.
• Experience leading and managing staff, preferably in a unionized environment.
• Strong decision-making ability and change management experience.
