Job Title: Early Childhood Educator - Developmental Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Early Childhood Educator to join our team at Montessori Play and Learn Centre Ltd. This role involves developing and implementing child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.

  • Education: College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years
Work Setting

This position is based in a child care centre where you will be working with children and collaborating with other educators and staff.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
  • Leading activities such as telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest
  • Assisting early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records
  • Encouraging children to express creativity through various media
  • Guiding and assisting children in developing proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits
  • Preparing snacks and arranging rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
  • Observing children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and preparing reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors
  • Submitting written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors
  • Establishing guidelines for behavior
  • Establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
  • Supervising and coordinating activities of other early childhood educators and assistants
Certifications and Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have a Child Development Supervisor (ECE level 3) certification, Emergency Child Care First Aid and CPR certification, and a CPR Certificate.
