We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the Intensive Care Unit at Royal Columbian Hospital. As a critical care registered nurse, you will have the opportunity to consolidate your skills and work in a specialty nursing area prior to and/or during the undertaking of post-graduate course work.
Responsibilities- Assess patients and collect information from various sources using skills of observation, communication, data review, and physical assessment.
- Make a nursing diagnosis of the patient's condition and determine whether the condition can be improved or resolved by an appropriate nursing intervention.
- Plan, perform, and evaluate nursing interventions and care.
- Collaborate with patients and their families/caregivers in developing the care plan and encourage family participation in the development, implementation, and ongoing modification of the care plan.
- Establish a therapeutic relationship by demonstrating empathy, trust, and respect, advocating for the patient's rights to privacy, dignity, and access to information, and by ensuring the patient's choice and autonomy in decision-making and care planning.
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Completion of the applicable post-graduate specialty nursing course/program and/or willingness to complete the applicable post-graduate specialty nursing courses/program.
- Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
