About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ophthalmologist to join our team in the Annapolis Valley. As a comprehensive ophthalmologist, you will provide high-quality patient care, working alongside two other ophthalmologists in a busy, private, fee-for-service clinic.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general ophthalmic care, including medical glaucoma and retina, cornea, uveitis, low vision, lids, and cataracts. Additional training in glaucoma and/or oculoplastics would be an asset.

The clinic is well-equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including Zeiss Cirrus OCT, Canon retinal camera, Optos, A- and B-Scans, IOL Master 500, specular microscope, topographer, Humphrey and Goldmann visual field machines, and Argon, SLT, and YAG lasers.

The successful applicant will be a strong team player who can interact successfully with other team members of the staff and live locally. Overhead structure is a fixed percentage of billings.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive ophthalmic care to patients in the Western Zone
  • Liaise with staff within the zone and province to advance the delivery of specialty care
  • Provide consultation support to the Western Zone, including day-time coverage and occasional overnight/weekend coverage
  • Be accountable to the patient population in the Western Zone by providing clinics and occasional satellite clinics
  • Be responsible to the Zone Surgery Department Head for their professional responsibilities and quality of practice
  • Operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority
Expected Hours
  • Full-time with one full operating room day per week
Qualifications
  • Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
  • Certified with Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)
  • Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
