We are seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Ottawa, ON.
**Job Description**
The successful candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in geotechnical consulting and will be responsible for developing cost-effective, practical geotechnical engineering designs and construction solutions for our clients.
This role involves working on a variety of small to large projects spanning from transportation, residential, commercial, and industrial developments.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical design skills, excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to manage projects and act as a technical resource for the team.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Working on a variety of small to large projects spanning from transportation, residential, commercial, and industrial developments
- Developing project scopes, budgets, staffing, and schedules for proposal preparation
- Managing geotechnical investigations, including field coordination with subcontractors, laboratory testing schedule preparation, documentation of the results, and budget management
- Supervising field staff working on field work and testing, which may include borehole drilling, test pit supervision, construction site review, rock anchor testing, and slope stability assessments (rock and soil)
- Managing clients and contractors
- Designing and assessing geological and/or geotechnical systems involving foundation design, slope stability, settlement analysis, soil improvement, and others
- Preparing proposals and geotechnical reports
- Other general field and office related duties as required
**Qualifications**
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering from a recognized university and a postgraduate degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in geotechnical consulting.
- Professional Engineer in good standing with provincial association or the ability to obtain the professional designation.
