International Admissions Officer

BCIT is seeking a highly skilled and experienced International Admissions Officer to join our team. As a key member of our admissions team, you will be responsible for coordinating the full range of activities involved with international admissions, from handling prospective international student inquiries to advising on transferability of courses and assisting in the preparation of successful applications.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist international students with admission procedures, pre-entry test registrations, and completion of documentation requirements.
- Recommend study pathways and options based on international students' educational background and work experience.
- Review international documents for high school entrance or post-secondary equivalents and assess based on past practices, research, and training.
- Respond to international students and provide a safe and confidential environment with support and follow-up.
- Assess and make selection decisions and determine when files have reached the decision stage regarding acceptance.
- Ensure all applications and other documents pertaining to international students' acceptance to BCIT are assessed and processed within established deadlines.
- Pre-assess and follow-up on all incomplete applications and make decisions on whether to inform students to apply or cross-recruit to alternative programs.
- Inform students of transferability of courses into BCIT programs and determine and enter transfer credits for accepted advanced placement and readmits applicants.
- Issue and sign letters of acceptance and other confirmation communications used to support study permit applications.
- Correspond with students who have failed and have had their program status affected with respect to continuing their studies.
- Monitor enrolment activity to ensure that programs are filled to capacity by required deadlines.
- Prepare a variety of reports related to student demographics, contact information, part-time registration, and other statistical data.
- Grade 12 plus completion of one year of post-secondary education including courses in business administration, management, computer systems, or completion of a relevant, one-year certificate program from a community college.
- Two years general experience plus two years' practical, current experience in a post-secondary admissions environment.
- Knowledge and demonstrated experience with an on-line student records system, such as Banner.
- Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, at the intermediate level.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrated leadership ability, and the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Proven experience working effectively with diverse groups and stakeholders.
- Experience working within a culturally diverse environment.
- Strong ability to deal with various levels of staff, faculty, and administration in a professional manner.
- Exceptional customer service skills are required.
